Guwahati Press Club, the premier press institution of north eastern region, has decided to celebarte 2002 as Silver Jubilee Celebration Year.
The newly elected executive body of GPC has taken the decision in its first executive meet, held in the press club premises today.
The meeting has also decided to organise a National level seminar and workshop on Jornalism in second half of the year as the culmination program.
At the same time a souvenir highlighting the activities of the club during the last 25 years will also be published.
Resuming the office, the new body under the presidentship of Partha Pratim Barua, has reiterated the spirit of the GPC to continue in the coming days.
Established in 1976, GPC has played a pivotal role in the field of journalism in the north eastern part of India and the new committee has decided to celebrate the existence of GPC in a befitting manner.
The meeting has further decided to organise the 4th Inter Media Cricket tournament among the Guwahati based media persons attached to different newspaper groups by the end of January, 2002.An eight member organising committe for the tournament has also been set up in the meeting, said Nava Thakuria, Sectetary of GPC in a press release.
